The report states that nearly 95 communities have illegal levels of arsenic in their water. Arsenic is a naturally occurring element in the soil and is a known carcinogen that can damage developing brains in children and cause other health problems. Arsenic is only one of many contaminants found in drinking water in the United States. Many of these contaminants go unnoticed by people with wells and municipal water sources because they depend on the skills and honesty of government and water management organizations. But this doesn't always happen. People need a reliable way to purify their water when it is delivered to their home or business. Big Berkey has the ability to purify water and remove an extensive array of contaminants.
Big Berkey Removes Viruses, Pathogenic Bacteria, And Many Heavy Metals.
Although California has its share of water problems, California is not alone. Every state in the United States has unique issues that must be dealt with in order to provide clean safe water to the residents of the state. Many of them do a great job. But there is room for error. Human error, bureaucratic error, and, accidents, can all happen without notice. The only true way to know that you are drinking clean safe water is to purify the water before you use it. Years ago, the task of removing viruses, pathogenic bacteria, and heavy metals was very expensive, especially on a big scale. But thankfully, companies like Berkey water filters, have made water purification in the home very cost effective. In fact, filtering contaminated water with a Big Berkey can cost as little as 1.7 cents per gallon. And the best part is Berkey has made it very easy.
So Easy To Use and Clean
These filters are very easy to use. They require no electricity and require very little maintenance. When you receive your Berkey it will be in a box. The top chamber and all the parts will be nested inside of the lower chamber. This makes the Big Berkey very easy to store. When you remove the Berkey from the box, the Black Berkey filters can be installed, and then the top chamber is placed on top of the lower chamber. A spigot is installed on the lower chamber to dispense the water. The lower chamber of this system will hold 2.1 gallons of purified water. Once the spigot has been installed water is poured into the top chamber and allowed to pass through the filters and drip into the clean water chamber. It's that simple. And because your system will last for 6000 gallons, there's very little maintenance.
Cleaning the Black Berkey Filter Elements
All Berkey systems that use the Black Berkey filter elements can be cleaned using a green Scotch-Brite pad. Cleaning may be necessary if you are filtering turbid water where particulate matter is floating in the water. Using a Scotch-Brite pad, gently scrub the filters in a horizontal action back and forth. This will remove a thin layer from the filters opening the pores and allowing water to flow freely again. It is not necessary to scrub hard. You only need to take off a thin layer to open the pores and allow water to flow.
California is not the only state with water problems. We highly recommend that you consider using this filter in your home wherever you live. Doing this will provide an added layer of protection for you and your family when it comes to drinking water.
