N95 masks are for use after an earthquake, volcanic activity, or other event such as 9/11 where there is dust and debris in the air. In the past, the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control recommended N95 masks for outbreaks of bird flu or other pandemics. THIS IS NO LONGER TRUE. N95 MASKS WILL NOT PROTECT FROM BIRD FLU OR ANY FLU VIRUS. WHY? The flu virus is smaller than the pores in the N95 mask and can therefore pass thru the mask. You will need an N98 Triosyn mask if you want to be protected from pandemic flu.
