Emergency Food Bars

Emergency food bars are short-term food storage.  The average survival food bar has a shelf life of 5 years stored at at about 70 degrees.  Emergency survival food like food bars are an important part of food emergency preparedness.  The important thing to remember about food bars is that they are most useful immediately after  a disaster and they are primarily useful at the onset of a disaster when physical exertion and stress are high.  This is because much of their calorie content comes from carbohydrates and not protein.  Survival food bars should be used in emergency kits, in office buildings, and other locations where short-term emergency food is necessary until log term food storage can be accessed.  You do not want to use emergency food bars as your long-term food storage.
