The Country Living grain mill comes with a standard auger that easily moves small grain from the grain hopper to the grinding plates. But larger grains such as corn, or legumes such has dried black beans, do not get the push they need to make it to the grinding plates with the standard Country Living grain mill auger.Corn and Bean Auger InstallationInstalling the corn and bean auger on a Country Living grain mill is not difficult if you have the right tools. First, remove the grinding plate tension knob and remove the two washers. Next, remove the rotating plate off of the shaft. You will find a key (a long rectangular piece of metal) on the shaft under the spring auger. Use a screw driver to press the key back into the shaft and lift the key out of the slot. Once the key is removed, you can remove the small auger spring. Remove one of the two washers inside your mill hopper. Next, place the small key provided with your Country Living grain mill corn and bean auger into the key slot. Install the auger onto the shaft, aligning the key with the notch in the auger. Once the auger is installed, place the small spring provided with the corn and bean auger kit on the shaft. The spring should slide inside the corn and bean auger. Now take the remaining small key and place it in the key slot, filling the rest of the key slot. You may need to use a screw driver or other flat tool to press the remaining small key into place. Once the key is in place, take your rotating plate and place it on the shaft being careful not to knock your key and spring out of place. Make sure the rotating plate aligns with the key slot. Re-install the grinding plate tension knob and you can begin to grind corn and beans with your mill.
