Communications

Communication is important in a disaster.  Two aspects of communication can have a significant influence on your post disaster experience.  You should be able to signal others and receive up-to-date information on what is happening in your area.  Whistles, alarms, and anything that makes noise will help if you become trapped and rescuers are looking for you.  Radios with AM, FM, Shortwave, and NOAA weather channels can provide psychological comfort after a diaster by providing you with valuable information about rescue and relief efforts.
